Outstanding achievements
The Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 36 in platinum features a diamond -set bright blue dial, a fluted bezel , and a President bracelet.
Bright blue dial
Tabulation techniques
The dial features 10 square-cut diamonds. Many dial models in the Oyster collection employ a sunray effect, refracting a subtle sheen. This effect requires exceptional brushing techniques to create the engravings that extend outwards from the center of the dial.
The light is diffused along the engravings, creating a subtle and unique effect that displays different luster as the wrist moves. After the sunburst effect is achieved, the dial is colored using physical vapor deposition or electroplating techniques, and finally finished with a gloss varnish.
Triangular groove outer ring
Rolex characteristics
Rolex's fluted bezel is a distinctive feature of the brand's watches. Originally, the fluted bezel on Oyster watches served a practical purpose, helping to screw the bezel tightly onto the case and ensure the watch's water resistance.
The fluted pattern visible on the case back serves the same purpose and is screwed onto the case using specific Rolex tools. Later, the fluted pattern evolved into an aesthetic design element, becoming a classic Rolex feature. Today, the fluted pattern remains a characteristic of the brand's watches; the bezel of this Day-Date 36 is made of platinum.
Platinum
precious metals
Platinum is precious and rare, with its silvery-white color and brilliant luster being particularly striking. Platinum is one of the densest and heaviest metals in the world, possessing unique chemical and physical properties, such as exceptional corrosion resistance.
Nevertheless, platinum is remarkably soft, elastic, and malleable, making its processing and polishing exceptionally difficult, requiring highly skilled technicians. Rolex consistently uses 950 platinum, an alloy containing 950‰ (parts per thousand) of platinum, meticulously crafted by Rolex's exceptional metalworkers. Only a noble metal can match a fine timepiece.
President-style watch strap
Exquisite
The design, development, and production processes of Rolex watch straps and buckles, as well as the rigorous testing they undergo, all fully utilize advanced technology.
Like other components of the watch, the bracelet and buckle undergo expert inspection to ensure a flawless finish. The President bracelet features a three-link arched design, specifically created for the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date watch launched in 1956. This bracelet is crafted from carefully selected precious metals, offering an elegant appearance and comfortable wear.
