Ceramic outer ring and luminous display
Legendary diving watch
The Sea-Dweller's unidirectional rotating 60-minute scale outer ring allows divers to accurately and safely monitor their dive and decompression times.
This timepiece features a patented black Cerachrom bezel developed by Rolex, made of highly scratch-resistant ceramic that will not fade even when exposed to ultraviolet light. Rolex uses PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) technology to coat the hour markers with a thin film of gold. The sleek black dial is fitted with oversized Chromalight luminescent hands and hour markers, coated with luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow in the dark for excellent legibility.
Black dial
Inspired by the prototype watch
The Sea-Dweller watch features a black dial with oversized hands and hour markers, a feature typically found in professional timepieces. The name "Sea-Dweller" is engraved in yellow on the black dial, complementing the gold accents of the watch.
The 2017 model features "Sea-Dweller" engraved in red on the dial, paying homage to the first Sea-Dweller timepiece. The innovative Chromalight display on the dial is an invention that effectively improves legibility in dark environments. This blue light can be displayed for up to eight hours, twice the display time of ordinary luminescent materials.
Gold Steel
Combining two metals
Gold, bright and noble, is captivating. Steel, incredibly strong and reliable. The two blend harmoniously, cleverly combined with other properties.
The steel and gold finish is a signature feature of Rolex, having been incorporated into Rolex watches since the early 1930s, and officially registered as a trademark in 1933. It is also a prominent characteristic of the Oyster Perpetual series.
Oyster bracelet
Combining form and function
The Oyster bracelet is robust and comfortable, combining style, function, aesthetics and technology.
This watch strap features an Oysterlock safety clasp to prevent accidental opening, and the Glidelock system that allows for easy extension without the need for any tools. Even when wearing a diving suit, you can still experience a stable and comfortable wearing experience.
