The Sea-Dweller's unidirectional rotating 60-minute scale outer ring allows divers to accurately and safely monitor their dive and decompression times.
This timepiece features a patented black Cerachrom bezel developed by Rolex, made of highly scratch-resistant ceramic that will not fade even when exposed to ultraviolet light. Rolex uses PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) technology to coat the hour markers with a thin film of platinum. The dial is equipped with oversized Chromalight luminescent hands and hour markers, coated with luminescent material that emits a long-lasting blue glow in the dark for excellent legibility.

Inspired by the prototype watch
The Sea-Dweller watch features a black dial with oversized hands and hour markers designed for professional timepieces. The words "Sea-Dweller" are engraved in red on the dial, paying homage to the first Sea-Dweller watch.
The innovative Chromalight luminescent display on the dial is an invention that effectively improves readability in dark environments. This blue light can last for up to eight hours, twice the display time of ordinary luminescent materials.
